Micah Parsons long built a reputation as one of the NFL’s most disruptive forces off the edge before the Packers acquired Parsons in a blockbuster trade, but head coach Matt LaFleur says there was a key moment he realized the All-Pro is special.

LaFleur coached the Pro Bowl back in 2022, and there was a moment that the Packers coach filed away about Parsons that seems to have stuck with him through the moment Green Bay shipped two first-round picks and Kenny Clark to the Dallas Cowboys to acquire him.

“The majority of the guys looked like they were going through the motions. Except for one guy,” LaFleur said. “And he was trying to wreck shop out there and he was trying to win.

“Just having relationships with other coaches throughout the league that have worked with him, they’ll tell ya – this guy’s the ultimate competitor and whatever it is you’re playing, he’s gonna wanna win and I don’t think he’s very apologetic about that.”

While the Pro Bowl has become a bit of a sideshow in recent seasons, the fact that Parsons’ competitiveness stuck so vividly with LaFleur could underscore the kind of teammate that the Packers are acquiring along with the dominant presence up front in coordinator Jeff Hafley’s defense.
