The Packers have made another solid move during the offseason to address concerns from the last couple years. This time it’s not a veteran player or a star rookie, but a 19 year coach who is well regarded in strength and conditioning, Jake Flint. The Packers have been ravaged by injuries in recent years. Hopefully Jake Flint and 2024 hire, Aaron Hill, can help with the players most desirable ability, availability.
A native of Shepherd, Michigan, Flint was a multi-sport athlete in high school and played college football as a walk-on at Central Michigan University, where he eventually earned a scholarship through persistence and work ethic. His early exposure to football culture and weight-room development helped spark his interest in strength and conditioning, leading him to transition from player to coach shortly after graduating in 2007.
Jake Flint built his reputation across nearly two decades in the college ranks, rising steadily from a former walk-on at Central Michigan into one of the more respected strength coaches in the country. He began his career at Central Michigan as a staff assistant under Brian Kelly, then followed Kelly to the University of Cincinnati, where he was part of back-to-back Big East championship teams during a 33–6 run. Flint’s longest and most formative stop came at the University of Notre Dame, where he spent 12 seasons and eventually served as co-director of strength and conditioning, helping develop dozens of NFL draft picks while contributing to multiple 10-win seasons and College Football Playoff appearances.
He later took full control of a program at Louisiana State University as Director of Athletic Development, overseeing strength, conditioning, and sports science for a roster that won an SEC West title and produced back-to-back double-digit win seasons. Across each stop, Flint earned a reputation for building physically durable teams that improve as games and seasons wear on. A trait the Packers are now betting will translate to the NFL level.
Here’s what Coach Brian Kelly had to say about Flint according to McQuade Arnold of Wisconsin Sports Heroics:
“Jake Flint’s passion is helping student-athletes reach their full potential,”
“He understands every component of student-athlete development and the preparation required to compete at a championship level. He has been an invaluable member of my staff for many years, and I am certain he is ready to take our strength and conditioning program to the next level.”
The Packers were hit hard in 2025 by the injury plague. In my opinion, if you have Parsons, Kraft, Wyatt, and a healthy offensive line, the Packers were primed for a Super Bowl run.
Here’s a reminder of the devstatingly large amount of injuries the squad faced last season.

Reports around Flint’s hiring highlight the team’s desire for a “new voice” in the strength program, especially as soft-tissue injuries like hamstrings have impacted players in recent years. Flint’s background in individualized training, workload monitoring, and in-season conditioning could help reduce injury risk while improving durability over a long NFL schedule. If he successfully applies the same principles that kept his college programs strong late in games, he could play a key role in keeping Green Bay’s roster healthier and more consistent throughout the season.
