Packers place Pro Bowl CB Jaire Alexander on reserve/COVID-19 list

Only a couple of hours before kick off to their Week 17 "Sunday Night Football" contest against the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers found out that one of their Pro Bowl defenders was heading onto the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Alexander -- who hasn't played since Week 4 -- had already been ruled out for the contest due to a shoulder injury. The 24-year-old former first-round pick has made 13 tackles and recorded three passes defended and one interception in four games this season.

In 15 contests a season ago, Alexander had 51 tackles, 13 passes defended and one interception and was named to the Pro Bowl roster. Across 48 career games, Alexander has registered 188 tackles, 44 passes defended and five interceptions.

The Packers (12-3) can clinch the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NFC playoffs with a victory over Minnesota (7-8). The Vikings would be eliminated from playoff contention if they lose to their rivals.
