The Packers are banking on Jordan Love taking the next step in his evolution towards becoming one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, and the 26-year-old will open the season with potentially one of the most underrated players at his position in his arsenal.
While competition is abound at wide receiver for Green Bay, especially at the bottom of the depth chart and exactly where rookie speedster Matthew Golden fits into Love’s target hierarchy, Romeo Doubs figures to be one of the more intriguing players to watch for the Packers this summer.
Romeo Doubs has the potential to play his way to the top of the Packers’ depth chart when Week 1 kicks off, and if he wins Green Bay’s top job, could be a big part of the offense making major strides in 2025.
Over at Bleacher Report, NFL analyst Alex Kay lists Doubs as one of the most underrated wide receivers in the league.
“Despite the competition,” Kay writes of Doubs for B/R. “Romeo Doubs has been doing his best to carve out an important role within Green Bay’s system. Following his fourth-round selection in the 2022 draft, the Nevada product quickly developed into a reliable downfield threat who consistently comes up with contested grabs.
“Doubs broke out as a sophomore with 59 catches for 674 yards and tied for a team-high eight receiving touchdowns. While his 46/601/4 stat line in 2024 wasn’t as impressive, the wideout recorded those numbers in just 13 games.”
It became obvious last season that Love has big-time confidence in Doubs, posting a 99.8 passer rating when targeting the 6-foot-2 and 204-pound receiver whose 12.3 yards average depth of target ranked 32nd in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.
How the Packers’ receiving corps shakes out during training camp is one of the bigger storylines across the league, but Doubs figures to play a marquee role for Love and the passing this season.
