Packers president now 'sworn to secrecy' on Aaron Rodgers

It appears Green Bay Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy won't be making any more public comments about quarterback Aaron Rodgers anytime soon.

According to Fox 11 News out of Green Bay, Murphy had no update on the lingering Rodgers saga while speaking at a Tech Summit held at Lambeau Field on Monday.

"Yeah and you know, we've got no other news really going on," Murphy remarked at that time about possibly trading Rodgers to the New York Jets. "I would love to tell you everything you want to know about Aaron Rodgers and the Jets but I'm sworn to secrecy not to say anything."

Murphy generated headlines when he said back on March 10 that Rodgers would remain with the Packers through the start of next season only "if things don’t work out the way that we would want them." Murphy added on that Friday that "we want to try to achieve something that is good for both Aaron and us."

Rodgers made it known during his appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" last Wednesday that he intends to play for the Jets in 2023.

Some were quick to point out following that interview that the Packers have no financial reason to accept any less than they want for Rodgers from the Jets or from any other team this spring, but other NFL insiders later suggested that the two franchises could come to terms on a trade at some point before the final day of March.

NBC Sports' Peter King wrote for his "Football Morning in America" column that he thinks Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst "wanted an all-in Rodgers in March 2023 and knew he wouldn’t get it."

One can't help but wonder if Murphy is now "sworn to secrecy" just in case Rodgers finds himself feeling "all-in" on wanting to finish his career with Green Bay before the upcoming NFL Draft.
