Packers Pro Bowl player accuses team of punishing him

Green Bay Packers defensive back Keisean Nixon was an NFC Pro Bowl selection last season, but he is facing a fight to remain a starter to open 2026.

Packers coaches have indicated that Nixon is no lock to keep his starting cornerback job despite his Pro Bowl nod in 2025. Nixon is not happy about that, and suggested Sunday that the Packers are punishing him, though he could not explain for what.

“I guess I’m being punished right now, I guess, I don’t know,” Nixon told reporters. “I don’t really worry about what I’m running in camp, the ones and twos, I just keep my process and compete.”

Second-round pick Brandon Cisse has risen up the depth chart, and new addition Benjamin St-Juste is pushing Nixon as well. Nixon also struggled in the Packers’ preseason opener, which did not help his case.

Nixon played in all 17 games last season and collected 72 total tackles. He is also a two-time All-Pro, though that was for his kick return capabilities. He clearly does not think he has to prove anything to the Packers at this point, but Green Bay feels otherwise.
