Packers Promote Luke Getsy to Quarterbacks Coach

The Green Bay Packers are staying in-house for their next quarterbacks coach. Green Bay is promoting Luke Getsy to quarterbacks coach. He replaces Sean Mannion, who left to become the offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Getsy, 41, returns to a familiar position. He previously served as quarterbacks coach under head coach Matt LaFleur from 2019 to 2021. During that stretch, Green Bay’s offense ranked among the league’s most efficient units.

The move brings Getsy full circle in Green Bay.

Full-Circle Return to Green Bay

Getsy previously served as quarterbacks coach under head coach Matt LaFleur from 2019 to 2021. During that stretch, the Packers’ offense operated at an elite level. The system thrived on timing, structure, and quarterback efficiency.

After the 2021 season, Getsy left to become the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears. Chicago went 10-24 during his tenure, navigating a roster transition and quarterback development challenges.

He then accepted the offensive coordinator position with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024. A 2-7 start led to his midseason dismissal.

Despite those setbacks, LaFleur brought Getsy back to Green Bay later that year as a defensive consultant. LaFleur has often leaned on trusted voices in that role. Former defensive coordinator Robert Saleh served in a similar manner, helping the offense anticipate opposing defensive schemes.

Getsy transitioned to senior offensive assistant in 2025, placing him back in the offensive meeting rooms.

Why This Move Makes Sense

Last offseason, Getsy returned under the title of offensive assistant. At the time, former quarterbacks coach Tom Clements retired. Many expected Getsy to reclaim the role, but Mannion received the promotion.

One year later, Getsy now officially steps back into the position.

The promotion signals continuity for LaFleur’s staff. Getsy already understands Green Bay’s system and personnel. For a team focused on long-term development with Jordan Love, familiarity and consistency carry significant value.
