Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (toe) returns to practice ahead of Bears game

It was thought as of Wednesday that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers would once again sit out midweek practice sessions to rest the fractured pinky toe he's been playing through as the 9-3 Packers prepare to host the 4-8 Chicago Bears on Sunday night.

Plans often change.

As Nick Shook noted for the NFL's website, Rodgers was back on the practice field Friday for the first time in several weeks, an indication the reigning Most Valuable Player chose wisely in electing against having surgery to repair his toe during the off week:

Rodgers suffered the initial setback while isolating away from the team after he tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of a loss at the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 7. The 38-year-old tallied a 2-1 record last month following the Kansas City matchup, and he told "The Pat McAfee Show" Tuesday he's "not going to miss any games because of" the injury.

Per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, backup signal-caller Jordan Love remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list, which leaves third-string option Kurt Benkert as Green Bay's QB2 for the "Sunday Night Football" clash.
