Packers Receive Concerning Week 9 Injury Update On Two Defenders
Dan Powers-USA TODAY Sports

Green Bay Packers linebacker Quay Walker and safety Rudy Ford did not practice on Thursday, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

While Ford was added to the injury report with a calf issue on Wednesday, Walker was not on the report on Wednesday, so this is a rather new development for the Packers.

Green Bay has been banged up all season long, so this is obviously the latest batch of bad news for a Packers club that is in desperate need of a win.

Walker, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was selected by Green Bay with the 22nd overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

He has yet to miss game in his brief NFL career, as he played in all 17 games during his rookie campaign and racked up 121 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and seven passes defended.

Through seven contests this season, Walker has logged 66 tackles, an interception, three passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

Meanwhile, Ford is in his second year with the Packers after signing with the team via free agency in 2022. He appeared in every game in his debut season in Green Bay, finishing with 44 tackles, three picks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and three passes defended.

The 29-year-old went to Auburn and was originally chosen by the Arizona Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Ford spent his first couple of seasons with the Cardinals in a very limited role. He then joined the Philadelphia Eagles for one year before finally getting some legitimate playing time with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021.

In seven games in 2023, Ford has registered 48 tackles, a couple of interceptions and four passes defended.

The Packers have now lost four games in a row following a 2-1 start and will look to snap their losing skid when they take on the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday.
