ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Packers are restructuring S Xavier McKinney‘s contract.
Per Over The Cap, Green Bay can save $5,967,500 in 2026 cap space by converting some of his $4,250,000 million base salary into a signing bonus to lower his $19,088,235 cap number.
McKinney, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Giants back in 2020 out of Alabama. He finished the final year of his four-year, $8,391,049 rookie contract that included a $3,662,581 signing bonus.
McKinney was testing the market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time when he signed a four-year, $68 million deal with the Packers ahead of the 2024 season.
In 2025, McKinney appeared in 16 games for the Packers and recorded 107 total tackles, one sack, a forced fumble, two interceptions and 10 pass defenses.
