Packers' Robert Tonyan ready to 'win a Super Bowl whenever' Aaron Rodgers returns

Earlier this month, neither Packers four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams nor 2020 Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones was able to offer much clarity on the situation involving disgruntled quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who reportedly doesn't want to play another down for Green Bay and wishes to be traded this spring or summer.

According to Adam Maya of the NFL website, Green Bay tight end Robert Tonyan said on Friday's edition of "The Rich Eisen Show" that he speaks with the reigning NFL Most Valuable Player "regularly" but not about football. Tonyan did, however, offer Packers fans a glimmer of hope during the segment.

"Aaron's been the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers for 16 years. I've been the tight end for four years. I think that's above my pay grade," Tonyan explained. "I don't want to talk for him and all that stuff. That's just a business thing. I'm just going to continue to get better and play tight end for the Green Bay Packers. If, when or whatever happens and Aaron comes back, I'm ready, and there's no gray area with me. I'm ready to hit the ground running and win a Super Bowl whenever he's back."

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported Thursday that general manager Brian Gutekunst and the Packers "aren’t budging in their position that they won’t trade Rodgers." The future Hall of Famer who turns 38 years old in December is signed through 2023 and might have to threaten retirement to receive anything other than a new contract that includes a pay raise from his current employer.
