The Detroit Lions' 2025 season did not get off to a good start with the Green Bay Packers absolutely taking it to them in Week 1. The Lions looked inept offensively and their defense made Jordan Love look elite for most of the game.
The good news is that the Lions got back on track in Week 2, demolishing the Ben Johnson-led Bears. The bad news, however, is that the Packers won their Week 2 match-up against the Commanders and are 2-0 with the tiebreaker over Detroit just two weeks into the season.
As painful as this is to admit, the Packers have looked good so far and they showed that, at least in Week 1, they were better than the Lions. That being said, we're only two weeks in and the Lions have owned the NFC North the past two years and until they're dethroned, they should be the favorites.
Well, Packers starting offensive tackle Rasheed Walker doesn't agree. Not only does he think his squad is better but he thinks the Packers will run the table this year.
"I think we can go undefeated, honestly," Walker said while speaking to the media this week. "Pound for pound, I look at these teams and I don't really see who is better than us."
Walker is talking a big game here and you know what? He should! The Packers have looked good in their first two games and curbstomped the Lions in the first game of the year. That team should have some confidence after a 2-0 start and beating up on the reigning NFC North champs in their first game of the season.
What Walker might want to think more about, however, is that there are still 15 games remaining in the regular season and anything can happen. The Packers might look like the best team in the NFC for the first two weeks of the season but can they keep up that momentum for the next four months?
There's no doubt that the NFC North is one of the toughest divisions (if not THE toughest division) in the NFL so the Lions will certainly have their work cut out for them when it comes to repeating as the division champs this year. The good news is that with all of the tough games they'll have in their division, the playoffs won't seem as daunting.
Walker can enjoy taking this lap right now while everything is coming up Packers but at some point this season, Green Bay will run into some adversity. How they respond when that happens will determine whether the Packers overtake Detroit in the division or if the Lions go on to win a third straight NFC North title.
