Packers’ Swiss Army knife finds ‘most comfortable’ system, eyes rebound

The Green Bay Packers added some veteran leadership by signing Isaiah Simmons this April, and the veteran safety has high expectations for his first season in defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley’s system.

“Honestly I feel like this is the most comfortable in a system I’ve been since I’ve been in the league,” Simmons told reporters, via ESPN.

Simmons spent the past two seasons with the New York Giants and is coming off a career-low 21 total tackles. He is clearly looking to rebound and remind the rest of the NFL that he is still a quality starter at age 26.

After former Giants safety Xavier McKinney’s success in Hafley’s system, combined with Simmons’ experience at safety, linebacker and even playing nickel cornerback, the 6-foot-4, 238-pound Swiss Army Knife believes there’s one major key that makes him a great fit in Green Bay.

“My versatility, I feel like it’s a little bit of a gift and a curse, where they want you to do everything,” Simmons said. “But at the end of the day, I’m still a human.”
