The Packers’ depth at wide receiver could telegraph that general manager Brian Gutekunst and Green Bay could move one of them to either recoup some draft capital dealt with to acquire Micah Parsons, or add an interior defensive lineman to strengthen a weakness.

Given that Christian Watson could be on the cusp of a return, Jayden Reed will be back in less than a month, and the Packers are looking to get more targets for first-round rookie Matthew Golden, it would make some sense for Green Bay to trade away one of their top receivers to free up a logjam.

NFL insider shoots down Packers’ Romeo Doubs trade rumors

After Doubs caught three touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys, his market may never have been higher.

Given that Tyreek Hill suffered a dislocated knee, and Malik Nabers tore his ACL this past weekend, both the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants could be ideal trade partners if Gutekunst is looking to shop Doubs.

However, according to ESPN NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler, Doubs isn’t going anywhere.

“The trade rumors surrounding Doubs, who has four touchdowns through four games, never made much sense,” Fowler wrote for ESPN. “That conversation was understandable last season, when the team suspended Doubs for one game for missing practices for personal reasons. But the Packers have shown no interest in trading him, and my sense is they have more interest in potentially extending him.”

Doubs has caught 17 passes for 179 yards and four touchdowns so far this season, which is the kind of production that would make him one of the more coveted receivers available over the next month.

However, if the Packers believe Doubs being on the roster gives them the best chance of winning the Super Bowl this season, it would make more sense to keep him than to deal him ahead of the deadline.
