Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has developed a reputation as one of the best roster builders in the NFL, but his most recent move has raised some eyebrows. And the Eagles player that was acquired by the Green Bay Packers could mean big things for Titletown.
It was reported Sunday night that the Packers traded a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Eagles for offensive lineman Darian Kinnard. Not exactly a blockbuster deal, but Kinnard has a special place in NFL history: In his three NFL seasons, Kinnard has never NOT won a Super Bowl.
Kinnard was a fifth-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. He played in one game as a rookie, but that was enough to earn a ring when the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII. Kinnard was a member of the Chiefs’ practice squad in 2023, earning another ring when the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII. He was released after that, and signed by the Eagles. He only played in two games last season — getting his first career start in the regular-season finale against the New York Giants, a game in which the Eagles were resting their regulars. A month later, the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX and Kinnard had another ring.
Kinnard was part of a stellar 2022 draft class for the Chiefs. Cornerback Trent McDuffie and edge rusher George Karlaftis are key contributors to the Kansas City defense. Even though Kinnard has yet to play in a postseason game, his place in NFL history is set.
The only other player to ever win three straight Super Bowls was Ken Norton Jr. Currently the linebackers coach with the Washington Commanders, Norton won Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII with the Dallas Cowboys and then Super Bowl XXIX with the San Francisco 49ers.
And while Kinnard has played so little, he is the only player to win a Super Bowl in each of his first three seasons. Athlon Sports reached out to the Eagles in July, but Kinnard respectfully declined to talk about his place in NFL history.
Is Kinnard the ultimate good luck charm? Will the Packers win their fifth Super Bowl now that he’s in Green Bay? We’ll see.
