The Green Bay Packers have just made themselves the talk of the NFL by adding Dallas Cowboys pass-rusher Micah Parsons in a blockbuster trade.
For the price of two first-round picks and veteran Kenny Clark, the Packers have now taken their roster to the next level and are lining up to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. The move is earning immense praise from fans and experts, and namely one former NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
Wisconsin native J.J. Watt spent a large portion of his life as one of the most fearsome defenders in the NFL. Now, he is witness to his hometown Packers acquiring a player who some have compared to his level in Parsons.
A move of this magnitude is so rare in this league.
What a play by Green Bay.

Parsons has amassed 52.5 sacks in just four years in the league, all of which came in Dallas. He is one of only six players in league history to reach 50-plus sacks in his first four seasons.
While Parsons tallied his lowest season total last year with just 12 sacks, he did it in just 13 games played. Green Bay will be expecting this kind of elite production from its new superstar, as evidenced by the massive four-year, $188M contract he was signed to after the trade.
Watt’s comments are a strong assessment of the move, and are particularly impactful given his perspective. Parsons has in the past been compared to greats like Watt, or even Packers legend Reggie White.
Parsons has even invited such comparisons after the move. In what is both a farewell video to the Cowboys and a hype video for his arrival in Green Bay, Parsons includes highlights of both himself and White.

Parsons will now carry the torch as a star Packers defender. Some truly great players have done this in the past, and Parsons is now next up.
Hours ago, Packers fans were anxiously hoping that their QB Jordan Love would be healthy enough to play well in Week 1, while also nervously watching rumors about Parsons. Now, with Parsons in the fold, there will be few NFL fanbases more eager for the start of the season than the Packers faithful.
