Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has proven that he’s the furthest thing from risk averse when it comes to making bold trades.
Less than two weeks before the regular season kicked off, Gutekunst filled a glaring need on the Packers’ roster by acquiring one of the premier edge rushers in the sport, All-Pro Micah Parsons to upgrade defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley’s front seven.
As the Packers continue to navigate injuries at wide receiver, and continue to develop first-round rookie Matthew Golden, Gutekunst could deploy that same aggressiveness to significantly upgrade quarterback Jordan Love’s supporting cast.
As the Miami Dolphins’ season continues to come off the rails, and that franchise could look to be sellers at the trade deadline, All-Pro receiver Tyreek Hill could become available.
According to Newsweek’s Evan Massey, Hill could be an ideal fit for the Packers.
“Hill would instantly become the best wide receiver Green Bay has had in years. He would give Love a weapon that could be utilized down the field or in the short game. Against the Browns, the Packers simply couldn’t make plays through the air,” Massey wrote. “Making a move for Hill would not come cheap. Green Bay doesn’t have a lot of draft capital to play with, but a second or third-round pick for Hill would be worth it.”
Hill, 31, wouldn’t just automatically vault to the top of the Packers’ receiving corps, but his speed and consistency could lift Green Bay’s offense to similar heights that Parsons did the defense.
With 813 career catches for 11,296 yards and 83 touchdowns, Hill would be a game-changing weapon for Love in a season where the Packers are adopting an all-in posture to make a run at the Super Bowl.
