The Packers went all-in at pass rusher, trading for Micah Parsons before the 2025 season kicked off, which could present an opportunity for general manager Brian Gutekunst to ship off a homegrown talent at the position to add some draft capital.
Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers are desperate for answers on defense, after losing All-Pro edge rusher Nick Bosa and All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner to season-ending injuries.
Somehow, though, the 49ers sit atop the NFC West, which could lead to general manager John Lynch aggressively looking to plug the holes ahead of next month’s NFL trade deadline.
Given that the Packers made the bold move to acquire Parsons, which has also brought out the best in homegrown talents Rashan Gary and Lukas Van Ness, Enagbare’s Green Bay future is seemingly murky, at best.
Over at ESPN, insider Jeremy Fowler argues that Enagbare could be on the 49ers’ short-list as a Bosa replacement.
“Enagbare started in 2024 but felt the squeeze of the Micah Parsons trade,” Fowler writes for ESPN. “Getting relegated to a reserve role. While Green Bay typically likes to keep its draft-and-develop talent, Enagbare probably would welcome the chance to play more elsewhere in a contract year.”
A former fifth-round pick by the Packers, in the 2022 NFL Draft, Enagbare has logged 9.5 career sacks, with only half a sack so far this season.
Clearing the path for Enagbare to more playing time could make this a worthwhile move from the player’s perspective, and the 49ers’ glaring need could set the stage for the 49ers to pay a premium to acquire him.
