Packers Work Out K Lenny Krieg

The Packers hosted German-born kicker Lenny Krieg for a workout on Monday, per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

Krieg, 23, spent multiple years playing professional football in Europe before joining the NFL International Player Pathway program in 2025. He impressed at the Combine, going 14-for-14 on field goals including four conversions of 50 yards or more, and earned a training camp spot with the Falcons. He spent the year on Atlanta’s practice squad but was not retained this offseason.

Krieg spent the spring with the Jets but was waived in June. Now, he has a chance to join the Packers’ kicking competition this summer.

Green Bay used three kickers across the past two seasons with starter Brandon McManus limited to just 25 games due to injury. Brayden Narveson stepped up in 2024, while Lucas Havrisik filled in last year. The Packers parted ways with McManus this offseason and re-signed Havrisik to battle with sixth-round rookie Trey Smack for their kicking job.

A successful workout and signing for Krieg would make it a three-way race with an uncertain victor. Havrisik converted all four of his field goals attempts across his three appearances last year, but missed two of his nine extra points. Smack converted 82.8% of his field goals and all but one of his 101 extra point attempts in his three years as Florida’s kicker with third-team All-SEC honors in 2025. The Packers clearly saw enough in Smack to use a draft pick on him, but successful college kickers are not guaranteed a smooth transition to the NFL. Krieg, who has never kicked in a regular-season game and attempted just two field goals last preseason, would be a dark horse.
