Panthers Claim Two Off Waivers, Roster Back to 90
USA TODAY Sports

Since the team released quarterback Jacob Eason and wide receiver Preston Williams, the Panthers' roster has been stuck at 88. Thursday evening, they picked up two players off waivers to fill the roster back out to 90.

Tiyon Evans, a running back from Louisville, signed as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Rams this spring. During his one season with the Cardinals, Evans rushed for 525 yards and six touchdowns on 83 carries. One of his best performances of the season came in the dominating 48-21 win over Wake Forest where he rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on just eleven carries.

The other addition is former Atlanta Falcons defensive lineman Jalen Dalton, a native of Clemmons, North Carolina. Dalton played his college ball at the University of North Carolina from 2015-18 where he totaled 93 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, seven passes defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

He went undrafted in 2019 but signed on with the Chicago Bears as a UDFA. Dalton was waived at final roster cuts that season and eventually landed with the New Orleans Saints later in the year. He suffered back-to-back season-ending injuries, keeping him off the field for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. He made his professional debut with the Falcons in 2022, appearing in seven games and registering 13 tackles (1 TFL).
