Panthers Elevate QB Jake Luton and CB Dicaprio Bootle from Practice Squad
USA TODAY Sports

Ahead of Sunday's game versus the Seattle Seahawks, the Carolina Panthers elevated quarterback Jake Luton and cornerback Dicaprio Bootle from the practice squad (standard elevations).

With rookie QB Bryce Young out with an ankle injury, Andy Dalton will get the start for Carolina while Luton will serve as QB2 in this one

"Feel good about Jake," said head coach Frank Reich. "He was here for training camp. Very smart guy, knows the offense. Good chemistry in the room. Confident in Jake and glad he's here."

Luton was a sixth-round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020. He started three games for the Jags as a rookie, but lost all three starts completing 60-of-110 pass attempts for 624 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions. Since being let go by Jacksonville, Luton has spent time with the Seahawks, Dolphins, Jags (again), and Saints.

During his three years at Oregon State, Luton tossed for 5,227 yards, 42 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Bootle signed as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021 and appeared in seven games with the team over the last two seasons, primarily on special teams.
