Dan Morgan received a prestigious honor ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.
On Friday, the current Panthers GM was announced as one of the four new inductees into the University of Miami's Ring of Honor. He joins a star-studded group that includes Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Andre Johnson, standout offensive lineman Bryant McKinnie, and former Hurricanes quarterback Ken Dorsey, who also has ties to the Panthers as a former scout and quarterbacks coach.
Morgan left his mark on the Miami Hurricanes football program. During his four-year career at 'The U', he became the school’s all-time leading tackler with 532 stops. His senior season in 2000 was one of the most decorated in college football history. He won the Dick Butkus Award, Bronko Nagurski Award, Chuck Bednarik Award, and Lambert Award, while also being named Big East Defensive Player of the Year and a unanimous All-American.
Following his collegiate success, Morgan was drafted by the Panthers with the 11th overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft. He played seven seasons in Carolina, where he was known for his toughness and leadership on defense. That experience brought him back to be general manager and one of the rising front office personnel in the NFL.
Morgan and the other honorees will be officially inducted into the Ring of Honor during halftime of Miami's game against Stanford University on October 25 at Hard Rock Stadium. The ceremony will celebrate his lasting legacy as one of the Hurricanes' all-time greats.
