The Las Vegas Raiders are still searching for a new offensive coordinator and offensive line coach after they parted ways with Bo Hardegree and Carmen Bricillo accepted the offensive line coaching position with the New York Giants. The Raiders could be without another coach soon.
With the Raiders having so many new faces in important positions, they will likely lose some players and coaches from this season to new opportunities elsewhere.
While Bricillo left for New York weeks ago, his assistant, Cameron Clemmons, has still been with the Raiders. He's now caught the eye of other teams around the National Football League.
According to Ian Rapoport, the Carolina Panthers have requested to interview Clemmons for their offensive line coaching position, which would be a promotion for him. Clemmons, a former offensive lineman, has spent years climbing the coaching ranks. He now has the chance to take another step.
Before joining the Raiders, Clemmons spent time as an offensive intern at Eastern Kentucky University and as a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee. He would eventually become an offensive quality control coach and assistant offensive line coach for the Raiders, spending four seasons in the Raiders, starting as an offensive quality coach in the 2020-21 season.
The Raiders offensive line registered consecutive successful seasons. In 2022, Las Vegas' offensive line would pave the way for star running back Josh Jacobs to lead the league in rushing. Jacobs was near the top of the league in rushing this season before sustaining an injury late.
In both seasons, the Raiders offensive line suffered injuries and relied heavily on their coaching staff to get the most out of a much-maligned group of players.
In a league where things are rarely perfect for a team or its' coaches, Bricillo, Clemmons, and the rest of the Raiders coaching staff helped guide Las Vegas' offensive line to new heights and did so without having the best possible talent. Their work with the Raiders offensive line the last two seasons earned them well-deserved opportunities with other teams around the league.
From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
