Panthers rookie QB cracks NFL's top 10 in jersey sales

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young has yet to take a snap in the NFL, but that's not stopping his jersey from flying off the shelves.

Per NFL Shop, the rookie was No. 10 in jersey sales during April, joining elite QBs such as Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers.

Young was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Consequently, he's surrounded by hype, which could explain why fans immediately bought his jersey. Also, per DraftKings, Young has the second-best Offensive Rookie of the Year odds behind Atlanta's Bijan Robinson.

Expectations for Young continue to grow since he reportedly wowed during rookie mini-camp.

"You watch the film back and see how he manipulates zone defenders with his eyes and subtle arm twitches to open a huge window," an anonymous source told Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein. "And you're like, wow, that's not normal for a rookie."

Young shredded SEC defenses in three seasons at Alabama, throwing 80 TDs, the second most in program history, so it's unsurprising to see the 2021 Heisman winner grasping NFL concepts quickly.

Andy Dalton — a 12-year veteran — is the starter, but it's only a matter of time before the Panthers hand the reins to the 21-year-old.

Dalton is a solid player but cannot extend plays with his legs like Young can. Young's mobility could generate electric plays that jump-start Carolina's offense, which finished 20th in scoring last season.

If Young meets high expectations, he will become the face of the Carolina Panthers and one of the league's stars.
