Panthers WR Adam Thielen takes a salty dig at ‘bad officiating’ during the Packers game
Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL officials have come under a lot of fire this season. They have made a lot of iffy calls throughout the season and have been under the spotlight more than ever because of them. A lot of the current as well as former players have spoken against the officials this season and that happened again after the Carolina Panthers vs. Green Bay Packers game on Sunday.

Romeo Doubs , a wide receiver for the Packers, was found by quarterback Jordan Love down the sideline on a third-and-four with 2:39 remaining in the game. Doubs appeared to make the catch over a Panthers defensive back. Whether Doubs kept possession of the ball after he hit the ground was unclear, though. The refs ruled in favor of the Packers and kept the drive alive, which resulted in a go-ahead field goal. Panthers’ WR Adam Thielen was a bit confused by the call.

Thielen said after the game, according to Charlotte Observer:

Yeah, I saw the whole play,"I saw a catch and then the ball moving as he’s going to the ground... So, in my opinion, the ball moved twice at two different times. So, there really wasn’t enough time to control the ball. Kind of what you get when you play the Packers. Adam Thielen after the game

The Packers eventually won the game 33-30 and improved to 7-8. The Panthers on the other hand slipped to 2-13 after yet another loss. They will play their next game against the Jacksonville Jaguars whereas the Packers will visit Minnesota to play the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday.

Adam Thielen talks about Bryce Young’s impressive performance against the Packers

The Carolina Panthers’ first overall pick this season, Bryce Young, has had a difficult campaign so far. He has gone through a head coaching change in the middle of the season and the Panthers have struggled to put wins together this year. They lost their recent game against the Green Bay Packers and slipped to 2-13 for the season. However, Young had one of his best performances against the Packers.

His fellow teammate, Adam Thielen was excited by the rookie’s performance on Sunday. Thielen said about Young, according to the team’s website:

Man, impressive. Really the stuff that I saw and a lot of us saw in OTAs, training camp. Just that confidence, that kind of attitude. And then, you collectively make some plays for him, and watch out, he’s got the hot hand, as we say. So, obviously super impressive and excited to build on that. Adam Thielen on Bryce Young

Young finished the game completing 23 of his 36 pass attempts for 312 yards and 2 touchdowns. So far this season, Young has racked up 2,671 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He has completed 59.7 percent of his passes so far.
