Some concerning news out of Oxford, as a Dallas Cowboys wide receiver has suffered an injury. Parris Campbell left the practice field on Saturday with an apparent leg issue. Not too much information is out there at the moment but Campbell did need some help leaving.
“Cowboys WR Parris Campbell being helped off the field with an apparent leg injury,” Jon Machota of The Athletic said via X.
Shortly later, Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com posted a photo of the moment. Campbell had his arm around fellow wide receiver KaVontae Turpin and a team staffer. Quarterback Dak Prescott was seemingly there to offer support as well.

Campbell signed for the Cowboys this offseason after spending the previous two years with a couple of NFC East divisional rivals. He got a Super Bowl ring with the Philadelphia Eagles last season despite not having too big of an impact on the field. Six receptions turned into 30 yards and a touchdown. Campbell even got some run during the playoffs but did not record any statistics.
The New York Giants had Campbell on the roster back in 2023, seeing him record 104 yards on 20 catches. For the most part, Campbell has been looking to recreate what was a career year in 2022 with the Indianapolis Colts, with 623 yards, three touchdowns, and 63 catches. It’s the only point in the wide receiver’s time in the NFL where he has stayed healthy for 17 games.
Unfortunately, there might be another injury for Campbell to deal with moving forward. Hopefully, head coach Brian Schottenheimer has some information available next time speaking to the media.
Prescott is going to have two pretty good wide receivers to throw to. A tandem of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens is as good as any out there, even if Pickens has yet to officially play in a Cowboys uniform. But expectations are going to be high for them this season.
What Dallas does need is a third wide receiver to emerge from the pack. Turpin is viewed as an option, potentially opening his role a little more than mainly working with special teams. The Cowboys traded for Jonathan Mingo last year too, giving the Carolina Panthers a fourth-round pick.
An interesting position battle to watch through training camp and even preseason games. Finding another weapon at wide receiver would help open the offense up even more.
