Pittsburgh Steelers legendary quarterback Terry Bradshaw was in the news this week about his comments about the player who most expect to be the franchise's next quarterback.
Free agent Aaron Rodgers, a player with as accomplished a career as any still active, is practically holding the Steelers hostage by waiting as long as possible to make a decision. Still, most reporters believe he will end up in Pittsburgh and put an end to the organization's month-long wait. That is, if he even decides to keep playing football at all.
Bradshaw has had enough of the waiting game. He's tired of Rodgers' antics, and had something to say about it.
"That's a joke. That to me is just a joke," Bradshaw said about the Steelers still pursuing Rodgers. "What are you gonna do? Bring him in for one year, are you kidding me? That guy needs to stay in California. Go somewhere and chew on bark and whisper to the gods out there."
The final quote is, of course, a poke at Rodgers' musings in psychedelic drugs, meditation retreats and conspiracy theories.
This struck Steelers fans with the thought that their franchise icon disapproves of the move. That much may be true, but Bradshaw may have been an anti-Rodgers guy in the past as well.
Amidst the current drama, old Bradshaw comments about Rodgers have resurfaced on the internet.
Back in 2021 as the nation was navigating the COVID-19 vaccine situation, Bradshaw offered the quarterback - who would go on to win the MVP that season - some advice. Rodgers famously used the phrase "immunized" when referring to his vaccine status during the time ... it just happened to not be the COVID one.
"It would be nice if he came to the Naval Academy and learn how to be honest," Bradshaw said. "Learn not to lie because that’s what you did, Aaron."
"Unfortunately, we've got players that pretty much only think about themselves, and I'm extremely disappointing in the actions of Aaron Rodgers."
That disappointment seems to have carried into 2025 and now transferred to Bradshaw's former team for even considering signing Rodgers.
Rodgers is not technically required to sign a contract anytime soon, and the Steelers haven't shown any convincing idea that they'll give up hope he will join the team.
Bradshaw's thoughts about the matter, however, won't be changing anytime soon.
