After making his name as one of the beloved members of ESPN's "SportsCenter," Rich Eisen is set to return to the network after more than 20 years to help launch its all-new "direct-to-consumer service."
Eisen's daily radio show will reportedly air at the Worldwide Leader later this fall and it sounds like it'll be in the same time slot as Pat McAfee — something the ex-NFL punter had questions about on Tuesday.
"Learned Rich Eisen's coming back to ESPN," McAfee said on his self-titled show. "I'm a big fan of Rich. Rich has been very nice to me, very cool to me. He's going live, noon to 3 Eastern."
"That feels very interesting," the former Indianapolis Colt admitted. "But also, love Rich Eisen, so I am cool with whatever."
"Noon-to-3 is fascinating, for sure. Is that a message? I don't know," McAfee wondered aloud. "But yeah, cool, whatever. But nonetheless, we're happy Rich is back."
As of right now, it sounds like Eisen's show will be a streaming exclusive as opposed to a simulcast running in the same exact time slot. But McAfee was of the mind that his show would be on the network's new service as well.
Nevertheless the sports media superstar says he's embracing it, while also warning that his show has "responses" in the chamber if need be.
"I respect it," McAfee said. "Just like the 'NFL Live' crew on free agency frenzy day. Hey, counterprogram us, it's all good. We like it. That's how we like it. And we have responses as well."
