Pat McAfee goes on a vicious rant against Brock Purdy haters amidst 49ers QB’s recent MVP nomination
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

As Brock Purdy, who was selected in the final pick of the 2022 NFL draft, led his team to the NFC championship for two seasons consecutively, he seems to have gained his biggest fan in the name of Pat McAfee. Not just that, his team, the San Francisco 49ers is the top-seeded NFC team and favorites to win the SNF game against the Detroit Lions

But that still doesn’t shield him away from critics, who have ascertained their strong opinions and doubts about the young sensation from time to time. Many even have claimed Purdy does not deserve to be in the MVP conversation, during the regular season, and now that he’s nominated for the award, the criticisms have hit the roof.

Fortunately for Purdy, just like the handful of critics, he also has quite a handful of supporters. Joining the queue is McAfee, who strikes back at the quarterbacks’ haters and reminds them of the actual facts.

McAfee said, in the latest episode of his show, The Pat McAfee Show, as he went on the remind Purdy’s haters of how he came out of ashes:

I’m done with the Brock Purdy slander . Out of Iowa State, he was playing against Washington State just a couple of years ago. Now he is in the second year in the NFL back-to-back NFC Championships. Pat McAfee said

McAfee argued that as the last pick of his NFL draft and playing as a backup quarterback in the Niners, Purdy has been given nothing to work with through the entire process, yet he has led the team this far after taking over as starting QB. He also mocked his haters for acting like, Purdy should be beheaded just because he couldn’t have a perfect game in the divisional round.

Pat McAfee praised Brock Purdy for his exceptional stats

As the host of Pat McAfee’s show went on a rant directed toward Purdy’s haters, he backed his points by throwing the quarterback’s stats right in their faces. Including the playoffs, the Niners are “20 & 5 and averaged 29.2 points per game with Brock Purdy as their starter.” He acknowledged the team’s one loss from last year, but that happened in the absence of Purdy, as he was in recovery.

McAfee also highlighted Purdy’s regular season stats and called them mindblowing, as he led the league in yards per game with 27.5, yards per attempt, yards per completion, passer rating, total EPA, total QBR, and success rate.

Though the Niners have an amazing roster, it can’t function without a good quarterback. And that’s what McAfee believes. He knows Purdy’s importance and contributions to the Niners’ journey so far.
