Pat McAfee Responds To Aaron Rodgers, Steelers Theory

The NFL continues to play the waiting game with Aaron Rodgers this offseason, as the quarterback remains unsigned in free agency. For weeks, the Pittsburgh Steelers have appeared to be his most likely destination.

Rodgers has visited Pittsburgh to meet with the team and reports indicate that a framework for a contract is established. All that's left is for Rodgers to put pen to paper, and many fans think he'll have the perfect venue on Wednesday night.

Pat McAfee is hosting a live event in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night, and he's said that special guests will be in attendance. Rodgers has been a frequent guest on McAfee's show, making appearances weekly during the NFL season.

Fans believe that McAfee is set to give his friend the floor to make an announcement, but McAfee says no such announcement is planned.

During an appearance on "Foobahlin with Ben Roethlisberger," McAfee said that Rodgers was "not on the docket" for Wednesday night's event in Pittsburgh.

If Rodgers isn't at McAfee's event, it doesn't mean he won't sign with Pittsburgh. Head coach Mike Tomlin has established the start of training camp as an unofficial deadline. That gives Rodgers several more weeks to deliberate before making a decision, but it also puts the Steelers in a difficult spot ahead of the NFL Draft.

The team has lost Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in free agency this offseason, and time is running out to find a replacement. Several quarterbacks around the league are in new homes this year, either through trades or free agency.

More spots will be filled after the NFL Draft, as teams incorporate rookies into their plans for the 2025 season and beyond. Rodgers is under no obligation to make a decision before he's ready, but the Steelers may want to explore contingency plans if he isn't signing before the Draft itself.

We'll see what happens with Rodgers, and with McAfee's event on Wednesday. The "Big Night Aht" is set to take place live at Pittsburgh's PPG Paints Arena, and fans can follow along live on McAfee's various social media platforms and accounts.
