Kansas City Chiefs training camp is only a few weeks away, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes is making plans beyond the practice field.
The training camp grind begins on July 22 as Kansas City ramps up for a revenge tour in the 2025 NFL season after losing Super Bowl LIX to the Philadelphia Eagles in humiliating fashion in February.
While the Chiefs are at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, they will have an opportunity to celebrate Travis Kelce.
The veteran tight end has a role in Adam Sandler's upcoming Netflix movie, "Happy Gilmore 2," which will be released July 25.
“Happy Gilmore, an iconic movie in my childhood," Mahomes told NFL reporter Kay Adams.
"Having Travis Kelce in there, and I’ve heard his part is great but he won’t tell me a lot," the three-time Super Bowl MVP said with a smile. "I want to rent out a movie theater and let it be a team bonding experience.”

The timing could not be more perfect for the Chiefs to turn Kelce's premiere into a team bonding event.
The July 25 release comes on Friday at the end of the first week of practice. The team is scheduled to practice that morning, but the players get their first off-day of camp the next day.

After spending his offseason training and keeping a relatively low profile with girlfriend Taylor Swift, 35-year-old Kelce enters his 13th NFL season with a refreshed mindset focused on bouncing back from the Super Bowl defeat.
"I’m only interested in Super Bowl rings," Kelce said during Chiefs minicamp in June. "The 15 wins and everything is something special that I let everybody else be happy with. Last year wasn’t a success for me, and I’m motivated to make sure we get that other ring this year."
