Patrick Mahomes' contract bans 'pretty much every physical activity'

Now that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has put pen to paper on the largest contract in sports history and a deal that could earn him more than $500 million over the next 12 years when all is said and done, he realizes that he won't be taking too many risks as it concerns non-football-related fun.

The one-time regular-season Most Valuable Player and reigning Super Bowl MVP spoke about the conditions of his new contract with 610 Sports Radio's "The Drive" on Tuesday afternoon:

"I still don’t think I'm allowed to play basketball. I’m sure baseball is not going to be allowed as well. I know there’s a lot of them. They have like everything from jet skiing to, I don’t know what all the things are. I read a lot of them. It’s pretty much every physical activity you could possibly do.

"I’ll probably be sticking with football and video games for now."

This is hardly unexpected or unprecedented, as teams often do whatever possible to protect long-term investments, particularly those who might cost half a billion dollars. New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees was once prohibited from operating motorcycles he advertised per the term of a club deal.

The Chiefs may want to add dishwashing to the list of activities Mahomes must abstain from moving forward.
