Patrick Mahomes credits not-so-secret weapon after blowout win

The Kansas City Chiefs offense finally showed some signs of life in the Week 4 37-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Of course, it's not a coincidence that their best offensive outing of the season came with Xavier Worthy back on the field.

The second-year wide receiver returned after three weeks, and the Chiefs made it a point to get him going early in the game. That's why QB Patrick Mahomes wanted to tip his hat to his most dynamic weapon, raving about how big it was for them to get him back on the gridiron.

Patrick Mahomes gushes about Xavier Worthy

"He’s just so explosive," Mahomes told the media after the game. "When you get the football in his hands, it just makes defenses have to adjust. And when they adjust — he gets so much attention on him, other guys can make plays happen. Just having him out there, not only for his physical abilities but just the morale of the room, I thought it was huge."

Worthy led the team in both rushing and receiving yards against the Ravens. He had two carries for 38 yards, including a 35-yard explosion, and hauled in five of eight targets for 83 yards. He may not have found paydirt, but he opened the field up for Mahomes, who spread the wealth and found nine pass-catchers throughout the course of the game.

Granted, the Ravens defense has struggled to get anything going this season. It has given up a league-worst 33.3 points per game, including 37 in this one. Nevertheless, it was still refreshing to watch a throwback performance from a Chiefs offense that had lost its explosiveness in the first month of the season.
