Patrick Mahomes has been keeping busy in the NFL offseason as he continues to rehab his surgically repaired knee. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback suffered a season-ending ACL and LCL tear in his left knee in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers. He has since been working hard behind the scenes to be ready for Week 1 of the 2026 season.
Mahomes played 14 games for the Chiefs last season. The two-time All-Pro QB logged 3,587 yards and 22 touchdowns on 315 completed passes. Mahomes also added 422 yards on the ground and five rushing touchdowns.
The Chiefs missed the playoffs after finishing the season with an 11-6 record. This was the first time Mahomes had not seen any postseason action since his rookie year.
Mahomes is clearly looking forward to making his highly anticipated comeback this coming season. The 30-year-old has continued to tease his fans with posts on social media ahead of his 10th season with the Chiefs.
Mahomes was back on Instagram on Friday, posting a couple of photos of himself in full Chiefs gear.
Mahomes’ post quickly turned heads on social media. However, what caught the attention of free agent wide receiver Allen Lazard was Mahomes’ caption. It has been common practice for the Chiefs star to use a single clock emoji to caption his posts. Lazard decided to call Mahomes out on it.
“Dawg you need a new caption lol,” Lazard wrote.
Mahomes responded by adding a second emoji. “@allenlazard ⏰” the three-time Super Bowl champion replied.
The exchange between the two players caused quite a stir among the fans.
“clock means magic time,” a comment on Instagram read.
“hes mr get it done mr one of one ⏰️” another said.
“it’s his thing… ⏰” explained a fan.
“you need a new team,” a reader told Lazard.
“get a SB then talk,” another said.
“dawg you need a new team ” a user posted.
Lazard caught wind of Mahomes’ response. The 30-year-old wideout replied with a final message. “ you got it champ,” Lazard wrote.
Lazard is entering his ninth season in the NFL. He is still currently a free agent, though, and is looking for his next team.
Lazard played the first five years of his career with the Green Bay Packers. He spent the last three with the New York Jets.
