Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have been viewed as the top contenders to win the Super Bowl for much of his tenure in the NFL.

Mahomes, who recently capped off his eighth season in the NFL, has already established himself as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

While Tom Brady holds the crown in most fans' eyes as the No. 1 QB in NFL history, Mahomes is becoming the biggest challenger in the debate.

As the Chiefs quarterback prepares for his ninth season in the league, he was recognized as a Hall of Famer.

However, this recognition isn't in the NFL. He went back home, where it all started.

Mahomes, who played at Whitehouse High during his high school football career, was inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame on May 10.

One week later, the NFL highlighted the honor on social media, sharing Mahomes' accolade with millions of followers.

"Patrick Mahomes and Robert Griffin III inducted into Texas High School Football Hall of Fame," posted the official social media account of the NFL.

Mahomes shared the post from the NFL, where he's showing off his brand-new Hall of Fame ring.

Mahomes played at Whitehouse High before committing to Texas Tech as a three-star prospect, ranked as the No. 22 pro-style quarterback and No. 389 overall player in the nation, per 247Sports

Before committing to Texas Tech, Mahomes also received offers from Oklahoma State and Rice.

Last season with the Chiefs, Mahomes had another stellar year. He completed 67.5% of his passes for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns as Kansas City reached the Super Bowl for the third straight year, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles
