The Kansas City Chiefs held their rookie camp from May 3 to May 5 and one name in particular had fans buzzing. It wasn't necessarily because the player was a major standout in college but rather that he's related to star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Rice tight end Graham Walker took part in rookie camp with the Chiefs and most would probably wonder why that's notable. Well, it's noteworthy because Walker is Mahomes' half brother. Patrick Mahomes Sr. is the father of both Mahomes and Walker.

Walker spent the majority of his college career at Brown playing wide receiver where he scored six touchdowns during the 2023 season. In 2024, Walker transferred to Rice and originally was slated to play receiver but switched to tight end later on in the year. He finished his lone year at Rice with 24 receptions for 252 yards.

Patrick Mahomes' half brother gets a chance to prove himself with Chiefs

While it'd be a fun story to have Mahomes and his half brother both on the roster, Walker has a steep hill to climb for that to happen. The tight end position will likely be filled by Travis Kelce, Noah Gray, and Jared Wiley but crazier things have happened. Perhaps Walker impresses and can work his way into a practice squad guy for the team.

That being said, the NFL is a business and the Chiefs front office won't keep Walker around just because he's related to the star quarterback. If anything, inviting him to rookie camp is a nice favor for them, as it gives him a chance to show what he can do and maybe another team will take notice if the Chiefs don't end up keeping him around.
