Patrick Mahomes Has Chiefs Star Losing Sleep

The Kansas City Chiefs have been the team to beat in the league for most of the Patrick Mahomes era.

Unfortunately, even the best teams have flaws, and the Chiefs aren't the exception to that rule.

They've struggled with blindside protection for years, and that may have cost them their third consecutive Super Bowl last season.

Nevertheless, Mahomes has a lot of praise and respect for Chiefs RG Trey Smith, recently calling him one of the best protectors in the game.

When asked about that, the two-time Super Bowl champion made a hilarious confession:

"Oh man, it's awesome, it's something that I take a lot of pride in, and for him to say that means a lot to me," Smith said on 'Up & Adams. "I lose sleep thinking about protecting Patrick, you know?" Smith admitted, laughing. "I know the things that I need to get better in my game to be the best protector that I can and just be an asset to my team and help my team out."

Smith has gotten better every year he's been in the league. He's fresh off his first Pro Bowl selection, and he's started in all 67 games he's played so far.

The Chiefs' offensive line will look different next season after trading All-Pro guard to the Chicago Bears, and there will be some questions about the left tackle position as well.

Hopefully, the rest of the linemen will take their jobs as seriously as Smith, even if that means not being able to get some good night's sleep every now and then.
