The Kansas City Chiefs finished the 2024–25 regular season at 15–2, securing the AFC’s top seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs before falling 40–22 to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome.
That loss snapped Kansas City’s bid for an unprecedented three-peat in the NFL, and left its offense, usually explosive, looking vulnerable, with no answers to Philadelphia's defense.
On “First Things First,” Fox Sports analyst Nick Wright answered the question on if Kansas City’s offense has something to prove.
“Oddly, weirdly, totally irrationally, Mahomes does," Wright said. "It’s the offseason, which means it’s once again doubt Mahomes season.”

His words underscore a curious trend—despite two NFL MVP awards and three Super Bowl rings, Mahomes enters this summer under the microscope once more.
Among the talking heads and fans questioning Mahomes’ supremacy, debate has swirled over whether Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen is the league’s top signal-caller.
Allen, 29, piled up 3,731 passing yards (14th in the NFL) on 307 completions in 483 attempts for a 63.6 completion rate, throwing 28 touchdowns against just six interceptions. He also rushed for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns on 102 carries, showcasing his dual-threat ability.
Yet Patrick Mahomes, 29, turned in another elite campaign. Across 16 regular season starts, he threw for 3,928 yards (seventh in the NFL) with 26 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions, completing 67.5 percent of his throws. On the ground he added 307 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 58 carries, a reminder of his uncanny playmaking instincts in pressure situations.
In this year’s playoffs, the Kansas City Chiefs outdueled Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship to advance to their fifth Super Bowl in the Mahomes era.
