Patrick Mahomes Has Strong 5-Word Statement on Kansas City Chiefs’ Offense
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are in search of a third consecutive Super Bowl championship this season, but, former MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes needed just five words to sum up the offense general manager Brett Veach has built around him.

After the Chiefs signed Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and chose Xavier Worthy in the first round of the NFL Draft to overhaul the top of a receiving corps that led the league in dropped passes, Mahomes is fired up about the pieces in place around him in Kansas City.

“It’s cool to have weapons,” Mahomes told reporters, following a recent OTA practice.

Kansas City Chiefs have Loaded Up Around Patrick Mahomes

While it remains to be seen whether Rashee Rice will be available this season, Mahomes has to be optimistic about a receiving corps headlined by Brown and Worthy with All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce coming off a 2023 season in which he was as dominant as ever.

“I’m excited,” Mahomes said. “Hollywood’s been making plays all week long since we started OTAs, practicing against the defense. Seeing X-Man running, how fast he is, and then adding to guys like Rashee and Travis, and the tight end we got, Wiley, and Noah Gray. It’s cool to have weapons. It’s cool to have these guys out there that want to go out there and be great. . . . I think we’re going to be a hard team to beat when the season comes around.”

Kansas City’s Super Bowl window is wide open so long as Mahomes is the quarterback and Andy Reid is the head coach, but this has become an organization that seems to have found its footing when it comes to not only adding explosive offensive weapons but also building a complementary and talented defense capable of picking up the slack as it did last season.

That’s a potent combination and a dangerous one for the rest of the NFL.
