Patrick Mahomes couldn’t believe it either.

Moments after the Dallas Mavericks pulled off the unthinkable, with a leap from the No. 11 spot to win the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery when such a position left them with just a 1.8% chance for such an occurrence, Mahomes took to social media to express his joy. He summed up the feelings of stunned Mavs fans everywhere.

The star quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes is far more than just a casual observe of the Mavs. He's a native Texan and lifelong fan of the franchise who has been an outspoken supporter for years.

It was only a year ago that Mahomes was part of a hype video for the Mavericks as they began a run at an NBA title with an appearance in the finals. Months later, Mahomes would progress through the stages of grief following the still-confusing trade of Mavs superstar Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers.

We're not sure how Dallas pulled this off, but Patrick Mahomes definitely approves.

Mahomes can now join the rest of Mavs fans elated with the lottery win, which means they hold the top pick in next month’s NBA Draft. The top draft slot positions them to potentially select Duke phenom Cooper Flagg. That's quite a turn after such a bottoming-out for the team's fan base this past winter.

Before the 2025 NFL Draft, Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, were seen courtside at a Mavs game for an up-close look at Dončić's return to American Airlines Center with the Lakers.

While Mahomes will spend the summer preparing to lift the Chiefs to another championship, he'll undoubtedly be keeping one eye on the looming NBA Draft to see who the Mavs officially usher in as the next face of the franchise.
