The Dallas Cowboys playing on Thanksgiving has been a tradition in the NFL since 1966. This year, the Kansas City Chiefs will take part in the football feast, creating one of the most anticipated matchups of the 2025 NFL season.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will take on the Cowboys for just the second time in his NFL career after Kansas City beat Dallas 19-9 at home in 2021.
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce scored a rare rushing touchdown in that game, which featured a combined zero passing touchdowns and three interceptions from Mahomes and Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
Mahomes, a Texas native, told the media at Kansas City's OTAs this week that he is mostly excited for the holiday showdown at AT&T Stadium — but there is one catch about playing the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.
Mahomes revealed that he used to watch the Cowboys' Thanksgiving game every year while growing up in Tyler, Texas, which is about 100 miles east of Dallas.
The only issue? "I think that raised the ticket prices for me,” Mahomes joked.
The 29-year-old still has plenty of friends and family in Texas who he expects to buy tickets for to watch him play on Nov. 27. Beyond his own family, his wife Brittany Mahomes, whom he met in high school, is also from the area and may need an allotment of tickets.

Even for a man with a 10-year, $450 million contract, that many tickets to a Cowboys game will represent a big loss to his bank account.
As of May 30, standing room tickets to the Chiefs-Cowboys game start at $125 on Ticketmaster. The get-in price for regular seats is just under $400.
Of course, Mahomes would not likely be buying regular seats. AT&T Stadium offers luxury suites for up to 52 people, but prices are not publicly listed. The cheapest field-level club tickets on Ticketmaster are all over $1,000 each
For comparison, suites like the one Travis Kelce bought at Super Bowl LVIII for his friends and family, including girlfriend Taylor Swift, reportedly cost up to $3 million.
