Patrick Mahomes makes one thing very clear ahead of the NFL's Top 100 list reveal before 2025 season

As much as every athlete in professional sports acts like they don't care about rankings or things of that nature, most of them actually do. They say they don't, but usually, they do. When it comes to one specific player on the Kansas City Chiefs, he is just wired differently.

Patrick Mahomes is wired to win. He doesn't care about being ranked the No. 1 player in the sport by his peers. You know why? Because, outside of his teammates, he doesn't care what his peers think, because he is there to destroy them.

Sure, he should be the best quarterback on the NFL Top 100 every single season, but that's not always how it works. And now we have seen so much greatness from Mahomes that it's getting to where there is some fatigue with how others look at him.

But he genuinely does not care about these lists or rankings. He made that very clear.

"I know it's coming, I mean, but I know it's a year-by-year thing," Mahomes said on the Kay Adams Show. "There are a lot of great quarterbacks in this league, and they can rank me where they rank me, but at the end of the day, I'm trying to win Super Bowls, and I don't care where I'm at on that list, no offense."

Being a quarterback is not only the hardest position in all of sports because of what it demands of you on the field and in the team's facilities, but it is also because of the image and being the face of a team. They are the most important position. For a guy like Mahomes, he has to deal with being put on or left off of the list like that all of the time.

He is trained to tune stuff like that out. The greats, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, etc, they all have the same mindset, or did, I should say, that nothing else matters but winning. Mahomes wants to become the greatest of all time, and to do that, you don't get put on Top 100 lists, you win Super Bowls.
