Patrick Mahomes Makes Strong Travis Kelce Statement After Chiefs Practice

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have been atop the NFL for the past several seasons, leading the Kansas City Chiefs to three Super Bowl victories.

In eight seasons as the starter of the Chiefs, Mahomes has also led the franchise to five AFC titles. Winning has become the norm in Kansas City.

Yet, last season, the Chiefs were dealt a blowout loss in the Super Bowl, forcing Kansas City back to the drawing board.

Mahomes should be a full go for his ninth season in the league, but many have wondered if Kelce, who's headed into his 13th season with the Chiefs, will see a decline.

On Wednesday, after a portion of the Chiefs' practice at minicamp, Patrick Mahomes commented on his expectations for Kelce after the tight end was reportedly considering retirement during the offseason.

"I expect Travis to be Travis," Mahomes said. "More than anything it’s the leadership he brings to the building every day. It’s a big impact to our football team."

In his 12th season with the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce posted three touchdowns and 823 yards on 97 receptions.

He was aided by one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes, who finished the season with 26 touchdowns, 3,928 yards and a 67.5 completion percentage.

The two continued to prove they're one of the best QB/TE duos in NFL history, despite a streaky season from Kelce.

Travis Kelce has made a name for himself as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history. During his time with the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce has been named a four-time All-Pro and a 10-time Pro Bowler.
