Patrick Mahomes has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks of the past decade, if not the greatest. Since starting for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018 after getting drafted in 2017, he has led the team to the playoffs every year.
With Mahomes leading the way, the Chiefs have also made it to five Super Bowls and won three.
In his first eight seasons in the NFL, Mahomes has played in 112 regular-season games and recorded a combined total of 32,352 passing yards and 245 touchdowns, with just 74 interceptions. During that span, he has also won two MVP awards and three Super Bowl MVPs.
Amid his dominance, Mahomes has been called many nicknames, from "Grim Reaper," "Magic Man," "The Gunslinger," "Mahomeboy" and even "Air Mahomes."
In the Chiefs' latest "Roll Call" post, though, Mahomes made it clear that he prefers the "Showtime" nickname the most. In a previous interview, the Kansas City signal-caller himself said he likes the nickname because it's what he was called growing up.
However, some people don't like the nickname at all, while others were surprised that it was even a nickname for him.

"pat no one calls u showtime," a commenter wrote. Another one said, "Showtime? You mean Mahomeboy?"
A fan added, "We all know Mahomes real nick name is the grim reaper."
"who the hell calls mahomes 'showtime,'" a social media user stated.
There were others who were supportive of Mahomes, even though the "Showtime" nickname has largely been forgotten.
"Ok, so Mahomes' canonical nickname is, in fact, 'showtime' not 'the grim reaper' or whatever else people come up with," a supporter defended Mahomes.
A sixth follower chimed in, "Patrick nickname being Showtime is so hard lol. Rarely hear anyone call him that anymore & forgot how tough it is."
