Patrick Mahomes Opens Up On The Big Chip On His Shoulder
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs fell just one win away from winning their third title in a row. That's something that's never been done in the Super Bowl era, and it would've made him the greatest dynasty in modern football history.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, and it looks like Andy Reid's team is no longer the team to beat in the league.

Even so, they still have arguably the best quarterback in the game, but even Patrick Mahomes knows that he has to stay at the top of his game to keep that distinction.

In a recent interview with Complex, the future Hall of Famer opened up on having a big chip on his shoulder ahead of this season, and he admitted that he always feels like he can and needs to be better:

"I think it's just, whenever you're an athlete, you always have a feeling of ‘you need to be better,’ you need to advance to the next level," Mahomes said. "Really, in any profession, you can have that same chip."

Mahomes said that he's now more motivated than ever, and the season can't start soon enough for him:

"And so for me, I feel like I can play even better next year, this upcoming season, and that comes with motivation and work every single day. I'm excited to start it back up in training camp and then build throughout the season," he added.

The Chiefs' offense hasn't been as explosive in recent years, but they will have Rashee Rice and Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown back to full strength this season.

And while they didn't look that good in their Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the rest of the league should know better than to count Mahomes and Coach Reid out.
