Midday at the Kansas City Chiefs’ training facility in St. Joseph, Missouri, turned into a global teaser when the Chiefs shared a striking image on Wednesday of quarterback Patrick Mahomes juggling a football with his feet.

The caption, aimed squarely at soccer’s biggest stage, read: “@FIFAWorldCup see you in a year ⚽️”.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is exactly one year away (set to run from June 11 to July 19, 2026) and will span across 16 cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The U.S. stage includes 11 venues, one of which is Kansas City, which will host six matches.

Within minutes, Mahomes himself chimed in with, "Crazy pic ."

A three-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Super Bowl MVP and two-time regular season MVP, Mahomes is coming off yet another strong NFL season.

He finished the 2024 campaign with 3,928 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and a career-best 67.5% completion rate.

The season saw Kansas City reaffirm its dynasty status, albeit with a bittersweet ending.

A franchise-best 15-2 regular-season record earned them the AFC’s top seed and extended their AFC West title streak to nine consecutive years.

They made it to their seventh straight AFC Championship Game and third straight Super Bowl.

All of this only to fall 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

With the calendar flipping to another NFL season, the Chiefs are widely expected to remain contenders.

Kansas City will open its 2025 season with a Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil, on September 5.
