Patrick Mahomes Receives Unfortunate News on Three Top WRs as Room Sees Untimely Injuries

The Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver room is already relatively thin, but after Tuesday's training camp practice, the team may be feeling the lack of depth even more. Xavier Worthy,  Marquise "Hollywood" Brown and Skyy Moore went down with injuries.

As confirmed by ESPN's Nate Taylor, Brown came up "limping" after suffering an ankle injury, which saw him carted off and end his Tuesday. Moore exited practice via a cart with what Taylor confirmed to be a hamstring injury.

As for Worthy, he went down after the first team rep of the day, after attempting to make a diving catch. Unlike Brown, who ended up leaving, Worthy did return to the practice with his helmet in hand, but was revealed to have suffered a head injury.

Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Situation

When at full strength, the Chiefs have one of the most electric wide receiver rooms in the NFL, headlined by Brown, Worthy, Moore and Rashee Rice. Unfortunately for them, getting all four on the field at the same time hasn't been as easy.

Brown, who inked a one-year deal with the team this offseason, only played in two games in 2024 after suffering a sternoclavicular injury. Rice came into his sophomore season in 2024 after a monster rookie season that saw him rack up 938 yards and seven touchdowns, but he only played four games due to an LCL injury. As for Moore, he played in just six games before a core injury saw him placed on the IR.

Not to mention, Rice is likely in line for a suspension after receiving a sentence of five-years probation and 30 days of jail time for playing a role in a "multi-car" crash last offseason.

Who Will Step Up For Patrick Mahomes?

Although quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a two-time MVP and three-time Super Bowl champion, even he needs time to develop a rapport with his receivers. It is currently unclear how much time will be required to heal the injuries suffered on Tuesday.

In the meantime, the Chiefs can turn to veteran JuJu Smith-Schuster, who was a part of the team last season, while also giving valuable reps to rookies Jaylen Royals and Elijah Badger.
