Is there a feud brewing between Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid? There might just be some tension behind the scenes.

Last Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a 22-19 loss to the Denver Broncos. At 5-5, they're currently on the outside looking in for the playoffs. Things won't get any easier since they play the Indianapolis Colts (8-2) this weekend.

Following the Chiefs' loss to the Broncos, reporters asked Reid about his offense's lack of success on the ground. He made a comment about run-pass options that caught everyone's attention.

“The runs are being called,” Reid told reporters. “It’s just sometimes they get turned into passes in today’s world. That’s how it goes, but we’re getting them in.”

NFL fans were shocked by Reid's comments, accusing him of throwing Mahomes under the bus.

Mahomes takes the high road.

During this Wednesday's media availability, Mahomes told reporters that he feels like he's done a good job handling RPOs this season. That being said, he was unwilling to throw shade at his coaching staff.

“Yeah, I feel like I've done a good job of it," Mahomes said. "I think there's times where I should hand it and there's times where I should throw the ball more. And I think you just have to continue to read and get better and better with it. I think more than anything, it's just giving guys chances either catching the ball or running the ball, even if the perfect look isn't there. And so, there's times where I might have thrown it, we got 5 or 6 yards, and that that's a positive play.

"But you can hand the ball off and kind of keep defenses honest as well. And so, that's stuff that I've worked with throughout my entire career, and it's something that's been huge in our offense for a long time. So, I think for us, it's just continue to get better and better each and every game."

Mahomes will try to silence his critics this Sunday against the Colts. A win would certainly help their chances of making the playoffs.

A loss, on the other hand, would have the Chiefs in panic mode before their Thanksgiving showdown with the Dallas Cowboys.
