Patrick Mahomes Sends Strong Message Amid Chiefs’ Injury Concerns

The Kansas City Chiefs picked up a pivotal win in Week 12 against the Indianapolis Colts, but things aren't getting much easier. The team has a quick turnaround, as they have to play the Dallas Cowboys on the road on Thanksgiving Day.

To make matters worse, the Chiefs are really banged up right now. Starting offensive guard Trey Smith is likely to miss time due to injuries to both ankles. Tight end Noah Gray couldn't practice on Monday due to the NFL concussion protocol.

Wide receivers Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy were both limited in practice, and even quarterback Patrick Mahomes is dealing with a groin. The team needs to get healthy soon if they hope to make a playoff push.

The Chiefs were very close to falling to 5-6 if it weren't for their comeback win against the Colts. Even at 6-5, there is little room for error the rest of the way. With injuries piling up, it's not going to make things easier.

Despite that, Mahomes isn't looking to make excuses.

"Everyone is banged up at this time of the year, but you've got to be able to fight through that and play your best football," Mahomes told reporters on Tuesday.

The Chiefs have been playing long seasons for the past several years, so it's a miracle that they haven't been more banged up to this point. This might just be a retooling year for Kansas City, but if they get healthy, they're still as dangerous as any team in the NFL.
