Patrick Mahomes still hasn't gotten over AFC Championship Game defeat

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are still reeling after losing an AFC Championship Game they appeared to be controlling. Not only is Mahomes not over it, but it appears that it will be quite some time before he is.

Mahomes was asked by ESPN’s Lisa Salters during Sunday’s Pro Bowl how long he expected it to take before he moved on from the Chiefs’ overtime loss. The answer indicated Mahomes will be stewing over the game for months, if not longer.

“I’m still not over it,” Mahomes said, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. “I don’t think I’ll be over it until we’re playing in another Super Bowl. So I’ll have to use that as motivation going forward.”

Mahomes is coming off a loss in last year’s Super Bowl, and he no doubt wanted to avenge that one, too. However, the quarterback certainly has to take more responsibility for this loss than that one. That factor alone probably makes it worse, plus the fact that the Chiefs were in control of the game. If Mahomes channels those frustrations properly, it could be very bad news for the AFC next season.
